Head spa equipment: what a salon really needs, and what it costs

One station does the whole ritual. Here is what is in the crate, what you add yourself, exact prices per model and a worked revenue example.

A salon needs one head spa station: a wash basin with a water arch, a treatment table or bed, a steam unit and light therapy. At Headspastore all four are standard on every model, from $1,990 excl. VAT for a table to $5,790 excl. VAT for the top bed. You add plumbing, towels and products.

What head spa equipment does a salon actually need?

The Japanese head spa ritual is a 60-minute treatment by one therapist at one station. Walk through the steps and the equipment list writes itself.

  • Arrival. Warm towel, tea, the backrest lowers and the head settles into the basin. You need a bed or table with the basin built in.
  • Water curtain. Warm water flows from the arch while the massage starts at the temples. You need a water arch fed by your hot water line.
  • Scalp cleanse and massage. Hairline, crown, base of the neck. You need the basin and a stool for the therapist.
  • Steam, scent and light. Essential oil in the steam unit, hood lowered, a light therapy colour chosen. You need a steam unit with hood and LED light in the basin.
  • Mask and rinse. Treatment mask, rinsed through the arch. Basin and arch again.
  • Close. Short neck and shoulder massage, warm towel, slow sit-up. The padded surface and the backrest do the work.

So “head spa equipment” is one piece: a station that combines basin, table or bed, steam and light. There is no separate machine to buy. On every Headspastore model the LED colour light therapy in the basin and the steam unit with hood are standard, not options.

What is included in the price?

Each price on the site covers a complete station. In the crate:

  • The unit itself: table, bed, chair or basin, in one upholstery colour from 42 vegan-leather finishes (Nagisa: 2)
  • A headrest
  • The water arch
  • The padded lid or cushion that turns the basin into a flat treatment table, on all tables and on the Rindo, Towa, Akatsuki and Kogane beds
  • The steam unit with hood
  • LED colour light therapy in the basin
  • The correct plug for your country; every unit runs on 110 to 240 V
  • Delivery to your door for a flat $199 per unit, import duties included
  • A 2-year warranty on normal use, with spare parts shipped from the factory; every unit is CE marked

Prices are in EUR excl. VAT. EU businesses with a valid VAT number pay 0% VAT under the reverse charge; outside the EU no Belgian VAT applies. Current delivery conditions are on the delivery and warranty page.

What does the salon add itself?

A shorter list than most owners expect.

  • Plumbing. Every unit except the portable Nagisa connects to your cold and hot water supply and a drain and works at mains pressure. There is no pump or heater inside the unit. A plumber does the connection in one visit; a handy person can do it.
  • A power socket for the light and the steam unit.
  • Towels. The ritual opens and closes with a warm towel.
  • Products. A scalp cleanser, a treatment mask and an essential oil for the steam unit, from the brand you already work with.
  • Tea for the arrival moment, if you follow the full ritual.
  • Time. 60 minutes per ritual plus the room reset.

A practitioner stool is not in the crate; any height-adjustable salon stool works. Nothing else has to be bought to start.

The difference between tables is basin material and frame finish; the step up to a bed buys the foot bath and the electric backrest. Browse them in the head spa beds and tables category or download the catalogue PDF.

What does a head spa station earn back?

Our ROI calculator uses an indicative example: $95 per ritual, 3 rituals a day, 5 days a week. The math: 3 x 5 x 4.33 weeks x $95 is about $6,170 in revenue per month, before products and the therapist’s time.

Set that against the station. A Komorebi at $2,190 excl. VAT or a Rindo at $2,790 excl. VAT costs less than one month of revenue at that pace. Your own figures will differ with your price and your bookings, so run the example with your numbers before deciding.

Two things make the hour attractive for a salon. It is the highest-priced hour on the menu that needs no colour, cut or chemistry. And clients typically repeat every 4 to 6 weeks, so the first salon in an area becomes the place people are sent to. The full ritual is described on our why a head spa page.

Which hidden costs should you avoid?

The listed price is rarely the problem. These are the costs that appear after payment when nobody checked them first.

  • Import duties. A price without duties grows by a carrier invoice before the pallet is released. Delivery to the door is $199 per unit, import duties included.
  • Pumps and heaters inside the unit. A unit that pumps and heats its own water has electronics in the water path that need servicing and parts. A direct water line at mains pressure has none.
  • Voltage and plug. Check 110 to 240 V and the plug for your country before you pay, or budget for an electrician.
  • Crate versus door. A crate of roughly 210 x 80 x 100 cm and 120 to 200 kg is delivered to the door, not carried inside. Measure the route and plan two people for the last metres.
  • Extras sold separately. Ask whether headrest, steam unit and light are in the price. Here they are.
  • A warranty without parts. Ask who ships spare parts and how long the warranty lasts. Here: 2 years on normal use, parts from the factory.
  • VAT surprises. Know whether a price is excl. or incl. VAT, and whether your VAT number gives you 0% in the EU.

Quick answers

What equipment do I need to start offering head spa?

One station: a basin with water arch, a treatment table or bed, a steam unit with hood and light therapy. On every Headspastore model all four are standard. You add plumbing, towels and your own products.

How much does head spa equipment cost?

Tables $1,990 to $2,790, beds $2,790 to $5,790, chairs $4,490 to $5,690 and the portable Nagisa basin $2,290, all excl. VAT, plus $199 delivery per unit with import duties included.

Is the steam unit included with a head spa bed?

Yes. The steam unit with hood and the LED colour light therapy in the basin are standard on every model, as are the headrest and the water arch.

What does the salon have to add to a head spa station?

A cold and hot water supply with a drain, a power socket, towels and your own treatment products. A stool is not included; use the salon stool you prefer.

How fast can a head spa station pay for itself?

With the indicative example of $95 per ritual, 3 a day, 5 days a week, revenue is about $6,170 a month, more than the price of a Komorebi ($2,190) or a Rindo ($2,790) excl. VAT. Your own numbers will differ.

Are there ongoing servicing costs for head spa equipment?

The units connect to the mains water line with no pump or heater inside, so there are no electronics in the water path to service. Normal use is covered by a 2-year warranty.
